Green ANaconda
Introduction
For my reptile option, I have chosen to do the Green Anaconda. On this page I have written some information and fun facts about this interesting animal. All information and photos on this page has come from signs, plaques and other information presented at Taronga Zoo and also my observations. I hope this page is interesting and informs you about the reptile.
Scientific Name
Green Anaconda is this animal's common name. It's scientific name is Eunectes Murinus.

Body Covering
The Green Anconda is covered in scales. The scales are mostly a dark green with brown spots. The scales are tough and there is many layers. Snakes shed their skin when it becomes dry and dead, as humans do.
Other Features
The Green Anaconda has 0 pairs of appendages although it does have a tail. Instead of legs or arms, it moves on its stomach. This anaconda has eyes and a tongue just like humans, but with their tongues they make 'ssssss' sounds, as we speak. It also is a reptile.
Relative Size
The Green Anaconda is the largest snake in the world! It can weigh up to 250kg. It can also grow up to 40cm in diameter, which is the width of an electricity pole.

Behaviour/Zoo Keeper Facts
The Green Anaconda mostly swims around in its enclosure. His weight helps him float to the bottom so he can rest. This anaconda is a powerful swimmer and often attacks their prey when they are drinking at the water's surface. The Green anaconda can also spend time on land. There are rocks and dirt in his enclosure so he gets the opportunity to slither on land.
